Sunset Cruise aboard W in the Bay of Palma

Club de Mar, Welcome Drinks, and That First Look
We started at Club de Mar, W's home marina, where Captain Fabrizio, deckhand Luis and chef George were waiting on the passerelle to greet everyone as they came aboard. Welcome drink in hand, we had a proper wander round the yacht before lines were cast off. For anyone wanting the numbers: W is a 24-metre YYachts Y8, built in 2023, exterior by Luca Brenta & Co, interiors by Design Unlimited. Four en-suite double cabins, eight guests, a crew of three. She's based right here in Palma and available across the Balearics, France and Italy this season, from €35,000 a week plus APA.

Sails Up
We got lucky with the wind, enough that Captain Fabrizio put the sails up for part of the crossing, which changed the whole feel of the evening. A few guests even got a turn at the helm, and I'd put money on that being the bit they're still telling people about.

The Crew
George cooked for us all evening, which was a real treat, since he's spent more than a decade in Michelin-starred kitchens before landing on W. Meanwhile Luis was quietly everywhere at once, topping up glasses and sorting things out before anyone had to ask twice.

What Everyone Said Afterwards

"Thank you very much Niki and Karen for yesterday! Yacht, crew, food, experience, relax, all 10/10."
"The crew are genuinely warm and go out of their way to help. They clearly enjoy the work, and the chef is excellent. For her size, W has a good layout, four en-suite guest cabins is not common at this length, and the cockpit comfortably seats eight. I'll be recommending the yacht without hesitation. We even had some wind and got a proper feel for her under sail. A really good afternoon, thank you." (translated from the original German)
"Thank you so much for yesterday's event on board W. It was such a lovely idea, and it was really nice to share that moment in this way. It felt a bit out of the ordinary — being away from the usual emails and requests meant there was much less stress and more time to really appreciate the yacht and her crew. W is in excellent condition. She has the racing spirit we love in a sailing yacht while still being very comfortable, responsive at the helm and a pleasure to sail. The crew was enthusiastic and very friendly."
"Lovely day on the water yesterday evening. SY W is lovely. The crew are really fun, they even let Fabian drive, and the chef is amazing."
"Thanks for organising it, it was so pleasant and relaxing — lovely food, a very nice crew, and the vessel in mint condition."
